2016 Kent Cricket first XI fixtures

The County Championship title race will begin on Sunday 10 April at Worcestershire with all eyes on captain Sam Northeast who will be given the option of bowling first without a toss under the one-year trial for the 2016 season announced last week.
Next summer’s four-day competition will see a significant increase in the number of County Championship matches played in August – up from 15 in 2015 to 32 matches next summer, and there will be a total of 63 County Championship matches in all between Sunday 19 June and Saturday 3 September.
NatWest T20 Blast action will kick off on May 20 – five days later than in 2015 – with the competition’s quarter-finals set for August 8-11 and Edgbaston hosting Finals Day on Saturday 20 August.
Kent Spitfires topped the South Group in 2015 and will hoping for a repeat performance with Somerset the first opponents at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Friday 20 May.
The Royal London One-Day Cup gets underway in early June with the knock-out stages of the competition played during the August summer holiday period before a final at Lord’s on Saturday 17 September.
The competition’s quarter-finals are scheduled for August 17-18, and the semi-finals will take place during the August Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday 28 August and Monday 29 August.
Kent Spitfires start their campaign against Surrey at The County Ground, Beckenham on Sunday 5 June.
Tunbridge Wells Cricket Festival takes place on July 15-20 at The Nevill Ground with a NatWest T20 Blast against Surrey and a Championship match against neighbours Sussex.
Canterbury Cricket Week starts on Sunday 31 July with the visit of Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup followed by a Championship match against Worcestershire.
