Alex Blake hits second 50 as combined XI build second innings lead

Alex Blake hit a second successive half-century as a combined Kent and Northants XI produced a better batting display on day two at The County Ground, Beckenham.

Opponents Warwickshire held a 78-run first-innings lead after they were eventually all out for 294.

In reply, Kent were reduced to 31-2 by Mark Adair and former England Test bowler Boyd Rankin before Blake and Northants' Scottish opener Kyle Coetzer (115 not out) added 137 runs for the third wicket.

Blake hit five fours and three sixes in a knock of 53 off 76 balls, just four miles from his birthplace in Farnborough.

The final day resumes at 11am on Friday with a lead of 136 for Kent/Northants.
