Thursday 4th September 2014

Bexley Rangers won the first-ever Natwest Under-19 T20 competition on Monday (September 1), defeating Sunbury Chieftains in the Final at Grace Road, the home of Leicestershire Foxes.

The tournament was designed by the ECB to help young cricketers stay in the game during the transition from youth to adult cricket.

Bexley defeated Tudhoe CC from Durham in the semi-final after Matt Stiddard retired on 50 in a partnership worth 62 with Agnus Dalglish (42) to reach 167-5.

Tudhoe struggled to chase the target and Bexley's bowlers kept it tight to triumph by 58 runs.

In the final, the Kentish side batted first again, George Haley (48) and Stiddard (49) put 85 for the fifth wicket to reach 146-7.

Bexley were crowned the inaugural champions by 59 runs and skipper Harry Furze lifted the trophy, presented by England T20 captain Stuart Broad.
