Canterbury Festival 2015: Spiegeltent returns to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence

Canterbury Festival, Kent's International Arts Festival, returns to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence for a third year.

One of the most important cultural events in the South East attracts an audience of 60,000 people of all ages to over 200 events in the city every October.

The festival fortnight of October 17-31 features a wide range of events, including Music, Theatre & Dance, Comedy, Science, Exhibitions, Walks and Talks.

In bringing the Spiegeltent the Festival has been able to host a wider variety of events including circus, cabaret, musical comedy and a family programme in a unique venue.

Here a few highlights of what you can see at the Spiegeltent this year.

SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER

7pm – Peggy Sued’s Variety Pack: comedy, juggling, acrobatics and song.

SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER

7pm – Tangomotion performance followed by Milonga dance at 8.30pm

MONDAY 19 OCTOBER

8pm – Kenny Ball Jr and his Jazzmen in concert

TUESDAY 20 OCTOBER

7pm – Bowjangles present On The Box! String quartet perform – sponsored by Barretts

9.30pm – Rich Hall’s Hoedown – music and comedy

WEDNESDAY 21 OCTOBER

9.30pm – Sadio Cissokho and the Golden Kora Band – Sengalese Kora music

THURSDAY 22 OCTOBER

9.30pm – Craobh Rua – Belfast four-piece band

FRIDAY 23 OCTOBER

7pm – Austentatious: award-winning improvised comedy in the style of Jane Austen

SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER

3pm – Festival Tea Dance: afternoon tea, cake and dance with Ragroof Players

MONDAY 26 OCTOBER

9.30pm – Anoushka Lucas Quartet: music inspired by jazz greats and modern sounds

TUESDAY 27 OCTOBER

9.30pm – Tootsie Rollers: glamorous vintage music and dance

WEDNESDAY 28 OCTOBER

7pm – Julie Madly Deeply: tribute to the musicals of Dame Julie Andrews

THURSDAY 29 OCTOBER

7pm – Chris Ingham Quartet – Celebrating Hoagy: melodic jazz

FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER

9.30pm – Les Enfants Perdus: Art Nouveau variety show including acrobatics, comedy & burlesque (also on Wed 28 & Thu 29, suitable for over 18s only)

SATURDAY 31 OCTOBER

9.30pm – The Vagaband: toe-tapping feast of country, jazz, blues, rock and folk
