Charlotte Edwards hits ton in WNCL win

Charlotte Edwards hit a decisive century as South Australia Scorpions defeated teammate Tash Farrant’s Western Fury in her final Women’s National Cricket League match of the season.

The Kent captain smashed eleven fours in a fluent 114-ball innings which included a 141-run stand with Tahlia McGrath for the fourth wicket.

Scorpions scored 267 for six with Farrant claiming a catch and conceding 44 runs from ten overs.

In reply, Western Fury started patiently – scoring 82 in the first 18 overs and never really kept up with the required scoring rate, falling 52 runs short with five wickets still in hand.

Fury lost their final match on Sunday to New South Wales Breakers, who will contest the final against Queensland Fire on Saturday 3 December.
