Charlotte Edwards stars in England T20 win over South Africa

Kent captain Charlotte Edwards carried her bat as England women beat South Africa women in the firstNatWest International Twenty20 at The Essex County Ground in Chelmsford.

England women won the toss and bowled, restricting the tourists to 89-4 with contributions from Dane van Niekerk (36) and Mignon Du Preez (28).

Natalie Sciver, Katherine Brunt and Danielle Hazell took a wicket each as South Africa set the hosts a target of 90 to win.

England reached the target with nine wickets and 6.3 overs to spare. Edwards led from the front eith an unbeaten 62 off 54 balls and Sarah Taylor scored 21 not out off 22 balls after opener Lauren Winfield was run out.
