Claydon and Cowdrey in action in Australia

Mitch Claydon and Fabian Cowdrey start their seasons Down Under this weekend.

Claydon will play in the Newcastle District First Grade for Newcastle City on Saturday at home to Charlestown.

The 32-year-old seamer will represent Newcastle Steel in the Kingsgrove T20 Cup on Sunday with a double-header against Randwick-Petersham and Illawarra at the Waratah Oval.

Cowdrey starts with day one of a two-day Sydney Grade League match for Western Suburbs on Saturday before a T20 clash on Sunday.

The 22-year-old is expected to bat at three for Wests in the red-ball game before opening the batting in the shorter form.

The Sydney club has some famous former Australia Test players including Adam Gilchrist, Michael Clarke and Mitchell Starc as well as England imports Angus Fraser, Monty Panesar and Nick Compton.
