Davies deputises as Kent bid to upset leaders Lancashire

Kent take on leaders Lancashire on Tuesday (10.30am start) at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in search of five points to lift the LV= County Championship Division Two title.

The Red Rose county will hope to shake off the hangover after their maiden NatWest T20 Blast triumph on Saturday, a fortnight after winning the quarter-final on losing fewer wickets.

Darren Stevens and Matt Coles return to the four-day squad after missing the draw at Derby with the squad and England Under 19 wicketkeeper Ryan Davies deputises for Sam Billings, who is away on England duty.

Lancashire are without their top wicket-taker Kyle Jarvis. whose season is over after fracturing his hand – he is the joint most prolific with Derbyshire's Mark Footitt – both men have 62 victims this season.

Kent's Matt Coles has 57 scalps this season in two fewer matches and Darren Stevens has 51 in 12 LV=CC appearances.

Sam Northeast needs 77 runs to reach 1,000 in the Championship this season, the division's second highest run-scorer after Lancashire's Ashwell Prince who has plundered 1,315.
