Sean Dickson continued his fine start to life at Kent with a century in the Second XI trophy at Radlett against a strong Middlesex side, including England ODI captain Eoin Morgan.

The 23-year-old new signing top-scored with 124 as Kent posted 284-8 as a warm-up for the start of the 50-over Royal London One-Day Cup, which starts at Tunbridge Wells on Sunday.

17-year-old Kent Cricket Academy scholar Zac Crawley hit eight fours in an unbeaten knock of 64, as he added 98 for the fifth wicket with Dickson.

In reply, England Under-19 seamer Hugh Bernard celebrated his call-up for the ODI series against Australia with the wicket of Nick Gubbins before another academy graduate Sam Weller, picked up the scalp of former England opener Sam Robson, trapped LBW.

Experienced batsman Neil Dexter joined the England skipper in a 85-run stand in 15 overs, which put the hosts in control before Cowdrey

Morgan blasted eleven boundaries and four sixes before Weller picked up his second high-profile dismissal of the day but the damage was done after partnerships of 48 and 52 with Zimbabwe-born Ryan Higgins and South Africa-born Stevie Eskinazi.

The second eleven will play Middlesex again in a three-day Championship match at the same ground, starting tomorrow.
