Five Kent players to play in new women’s T20 league

Five Kent players have been allocated teams in the first edition of the women's Kia Super League this summer, when the county cricket season takes a four-week break in July.

Kent and England captain Charlotte Edwards will lead the Vipers side and will be joined by two county colleagues: left-arm seamer Natasha Farrant and experienced left-handed batsman Lydia Greenway.

Kent player of 2015 Tammy Beaumont and all-rounder Laura Marsh will play for the Stars side.

Vipers, Stars, Thunder and Storm will field three England stars, whilst Lightning and Diamonds will both have four England players in their line-ups.

The Vipers will be looking to get off to a winning start on Sunday 31 July, when they take on the Stars on home turf at the Ageas Bowl.

Meanwhile, Kent Women begin the Royal London County Championship season on May 1-2 before the first home match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Sunday 15 May against Middlesex.
