Hartley win NatWest Kent U19 T20

Monday 5th September 2016

Hartley Country Club completed a double as they won the NatWest Kent Under-19s T20 competition at Upchurch on Sunday (4 September).

The Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League men's champions showed the club's future is bright as their teenage team triumphed on Finals Day featuring Bexley, Old Wilsonians and Broadstairs.

The competition is now in its third year in Kent and the champions now go through to the regional final on Sunday 18 September at The County Ground, Beckenham to take on the winners from Essex, Middlesex and Surrey.

Speaking as Colts Chairman of Old Wilsonians, Adrian Beckett, said: "It was very beneficial, as it keeps the lads together at the age where they start to drift apart when they start playing in men's cricket."

"All of the teams at the finals day echoed these comments and it is seen in clubs all around the country, as boys from 14, 15 and upwards start playing men's cricket their peers can feel left behind, whereas this format maintains that key social aspect of the game."

Kent Cricket wish to extend their thanks to Upchurch Cricket Club and to umpires Dan Loader, Ivan Wells and Ben Robertson.
