Hugh Bernard selected for England Under 19 series

Kent teen seamer Hugh Bernard has been drafted into the England Under 19 squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The Kent Cricket Academy graduate is in contention for the three fixtures at Wormsley (Wednesday 10 August), Chelmsford (Saturday 13 August) and a potential homecoming at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence next Tuesday (16 August).

The 19-year-old from Folkestone said: "I'm delighted to be called up to the squad for the series and I'm looking forward to working with the squad and coaches.

"It would be great to play on home turf wearing the Three Lions next week but I need to work hard and earn that opportunity."

England Under-19s squad for Royal London One-Day Series: Max Holden (Middlesex, captain), Josh Dell (Worcestershire), Zen Malik (Worcestershire), Ben Twohig (Worcestershire), George Hankins (Gloucestershire), George Bartlett (Somerset), Dom Bess (Somerset), Ben Green (Somerset), Ollie Pope (Surrey, wk), Aaron Beard (Essex), Ed Barnes (Yorkshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), George Panayi (Warwickshire), Jack Blatherwick (Nottinghamshire), Hugh Bernard (Kent).

Entry to England U19 v Sri Lanka U19 is free for Kent All Rounder, Championship Plus and Spitfire Members, an option for Six Pack holders and free for Under 16s.
