James Tredwell coaches youngsters at Kent Cricket Academy

Tuesday 14th October 2014

Kent and England spinner James Tredwell took time out from his winter preparations for a coaching clinic at the Kent Cricket Academy this week.

The Ashford-born bowler joined former first team coach Phil Relf to work with players from the Canterbury Institute of Sport to give tactical and technical tips before he jets off to Sri Lanka with the England squad next month.

He coached young spinners on technical aspects as well as tactical batting and bowling work.

Relf, now director of sport at Canterbury Academy, said: "He was fantastic and spoke about his attitude to preparation and winter programmes.

"It was a really great opportunity for our players to learn from an international player. At the same time, Canterbury Academy student Ryan Davies was working with Jon Fortescue on his strength and conditioning."

Wicketkeeper Davies, 17, will join the senior squad in 2015 after four years at the Academy and a tour of Australia with the England Development Programme.
