James Tredwell recorded his best One-Day International score in an attacking cameo with the bat before taking a wicket with the ball as England lost the second Royal London ODI at Trent Bridge.

The 32-year-old scored 30 runs from just 18 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 166.67 runs per 100 balls – the only England batsman with a strike at above a run a ball.

Tredwell produced a typically tidy bowling display, taking the wicket of Suresh Raina in a 10-over spell that went for 46 runs.

The Ashford-born spinner is expected to retain his place for the third ODI at Edgbaston on Tuesday, when England must avoid defeat to prevent India winning the five-match series.
