Kent bowlers enjoy workout in Durham friendly

Darren Stevens took three early wickets before captain Sam Northeast rotated the attack in the second day of a two-day match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

The visitors were reduced to 58 for four in 20 overs after Matt Coles (2/76) bowled opener Gurman Randhawa with the fourth ball of the innings before Stevens (3/29) pegged back Keaton Jennings' middle stump and trapped Michael Richardson and Jack Burnham LBW.

Gordon Muchall (46) and Ryan Pringle (64) put on 96 for the fifth wicket as Northeast rotated his options before Matt Coles returned to find the edge of Pringle and the hands of Alex Blake at slip.

Calum Haggett trapped a more patient Muchall leg-before as Usman Arshad frustrated Kent's bowlers with an unbeaten 102.

James Tredwell took 1/50, removing Paul Coughlin, stumped by Adam Rouse beforeHugh Bernard (1/53)bowled Jennings, who had a second bat after his earlier innings.

Calum Haggett (2/47) and Matt Hunn (1/77) mopped up the tail before the sides shook hands.
