Kent name 14-man squad for One-Day Cup quarter-final

The Kent Spitfires’ bid to reach their first Lord’s final in six years with a quarter-final clash against Gloucestershire, tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm.

The Spitfires welcome the Westcountry side in the 50-over Royal London One-Day Cup on Friday at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Head coach Jimmy Adams has named a 14-man squad for the knock-out match with James Tredwell away on international duty and Doug Bollinger back in Australia to prepare for the Champions League T20.

Mark Davies, Brendan Nash and Calum Haggett are sidelined through injury but Jimmy remains confident his troops can reach the last four.

Speaking before the game, Adams said: “We’ve really enjoyed the 50-over format and I am pleased with our form in this tournament so far.

“The absence of Doug and James from the attack will be felt but it creates good opportunities for other lads.”

Wicketkeeper Sam Billings was Kent’s top run scorer in the group stage with 357 runs at an average of 119, helped by an unbeaten 135 off 58 balls against Somerset at Taunton.

Kent and Gloucestershire have played each other 16 times in List A matches at Canterbury. The record is; Kent 13 wins, Gloucestershire one and two no results. For full details, click here.
