Kent name Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final squad

Head coach Jimmy Adams has named a 14-man Kent Spitfires squad to travel to Edgbaston to face Warwickshire tomorrow (Thursday).

The final-four showdown in the Midlands stands between the Spitfires and a date with destiny at the Home of Cricket on Saturday, September 20.

The Spitfires are just one step from a Lord’s final and Adams is confident the team can come away with a result against their Midlands rivals.

Adams said: “The form of the youngsters in the new 50-over competition has been very encouraging for the future.

“It will be a fantastic occasion for the players and supporters. I want us to enjoy it and play to our potential.

“We believe we have the depth of bowling and batting as a unit to win.”

Brendan Nash returns to the one-day squad after recovering from a side strain.

KENT: Rob Key (captain), Adam Ball, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Sam Billings (wicketkeeper), Alex Blake, Mitch Claydon, Fabian Cowdrey, David Griffiths, Ben Harmison, Charlie Hartley, Brendan Nash, Sam Northeast, Adam Riley and Darren Stevens.

Injury news: Mark Davies is out for the rest of the season after shoulder surgery, Calum Haggett misses out with an ankle injury.

James Tredwell is away on international duty with England.

Natwest T20 Blast champions Birminghamare aiming to repeat their 1994 clean sweep with former Test stars Jonathan Trott, Tim Ambrose, Rikki Clarke, Boyd Rankin and Jeetan Patel in their ranks.

Veteran wicketkeeper Ambrose is an injury doubt and could be replaced in the semi-final by academy keeper Peter McKay, 19.

Since a tie in 2009, Warwickshire and Kent have won three matches apiece of their six completed List A meetings.

However, Kent have only lost one of their last five List A games against Warwickshire at Edgbaston (won three, tied one).

Historically, the Midlands club have featured in 17 domestic List A finals, Kent have contested 14.

Kent wicketkeeper Sam Billings’ batting strike rate of 162.6 in Royal London One-Day Cup 2014 is the highest of anyone facing at least 30 balls – he has 418 runs from 257 balls faced.

Billings has a dot ball percentage of 27.6 per cent in the tournament so far, the lowest of batsmen facing at least 100 balls.

Final at Lord’s

In the event of qualification, Kent will play at the Home of Cricket on Saturday 20 September (10.30am start) in the Royal London One-Day Cup final.
