Kent trio to join Mitch Claydon at Newcastle City

Friday 2nd January 2015

Kent all-rounder Ben Harmison and seam duo Matt Hunn and Charlie Hartley will be joining teammate Mitchell Claydon at Newcastle City as the squad step up their preparations for the 2015 season.

The Australian-born seamer is skipper of City in the Newcastle District League in New South Wales and will welcome three familiar faces to the club for a three-month spell of competitive cricket.

Harmison, who turns 29 next week, played with Claydon at Durham before reuniting at Kent, will add experience to the eleventh-placed side.

Hunn and Hartley, both aged 20, will also join Newcastle for some competitive action after a winter working on their bowling, strength and conditioning.

Hunn made his first-class debut in the last game of the 2013 season and took three wickets in two LV= County Championship appearances in 2014 against Glamorgan and Essex.

Hartley took five wickets in his first two first-class games versus Leicestershire and Surrey in July 2014.

Both players signed contract extensions last summer with the aim of earning a regular first team place.

The trio could make their City debut in the Tom Locker Cup match against Merewether on January 10 at No.1 Sportsground.

Australia begin the 2015 Ashes Tour in Canterbury with a four-day match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Entry to Kent v Australia on June 25-28 is included in Kent All Rounder and Championship Plus Memberships and an option for Six Pack package holders.
Members can also buy up to six guest tickets before the fixture goes on general sale in March 2015.
