Saturday 30th August 2014

Men’s First Team

Kent are aiming to keep their LV= County Championship promotion hopes alive with the visit of Glamorgan to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

With four games remaining, Kent lie in fifth place in Division Two with at least a game in hand on the current top four and trips to fellow contenders Essex and Hampshire to come.

Kent have come good with only one defeat in their last twelve Championship fixtures.

The squad will be in buoyant mood after reaching the final four of the Royal London One-Day Cup and are hoping to use their 50-over progress as a springboard for their four-day form.

Head coach Jimmy Adams said: “We want to keep the momentum from the One-Day Cup win as the focus returns to four-day cricket.

“We’re still in contention for promotion with four games to go and we’re playing all the teams above us so there’s plenty to play for.”

Pacemen Robbie Joseph and Matt Hunn are recalled and Brendan Nash has overcome a side strain for the four-day encounter.

David Griffiths (hamstring) is sidelined through injury.

Glamorgan won the previous contest by an innings and 11 runs in mid-June with centuries from Jacques Rudolph and Jim Allenby. Australian seamer Michael Hogan returned match figures of 10/125. For a full history of first-class games between the sides, click here.
