Lancashire v Kent: Jarvis strikes to pin back Kent

Kyle Jarvis took three wickets and Jordan Clark grabbed a maiden first-class success as Lancashire took control on day two on their LV= Division Two match against Kent at Emirates Old Trafford.

Replying to Lancashire’s 444 all out, Rob Key’s side reached 129 for four at tea with the skipper one of a trio of victims of the Zimbabwean bowler.

Having made 28 out of an opening stand of 62, Daniel Bell-Drummond played away from his body and edged the ball to Steven Croft to give Jarvis his first wicket and then Key got a thin inside edge to a good ball in Jarvis’s next over from the Pavilion End.

When Joe Denly had also made 28, he nicked a ball he had to play straight to Paul Horton at first slip and Clark completed Lancashire’s excellent afternoon when Brendan Nash attempted to guide a short ball from Clark over the slips but only edged a catch to Davies.

Jarvis came into tea with figures of three for 20 from his eight overs before Sam Northeast and Darren Stevens (both 15* at tea) added 36 in 38 balls before the interval.
