Pharon Indoor Cricket League Update – March 4

The strength of indoor six-a-side cricket in Kent was demonstrated by Broadstairs when they won the regional finals at the Ames Levett Indoor School at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury.

The Thanet League Champions will now play at Lord’s on March 16 – the fifth consecutive year that a Kent club has played at headquarters.

Broadstairs booked their passage with comfortable victories over first Hampstead (Middlesex), then Hadleigh (Guildford City).

Semi-finals –

Hampstead 60; Broadstairs 61–0 (A Bailey 25 no, A Marshall 24 no). Broadstairs won by six wickets.

Guildford City 65; Hadleigh 67–1. Hadleigh won by five wickets.

Final –

Broadstairs 126 ( A Marshall 32, A Bailey 28, S Narraway 13, C Kidd 11, J Benfield 10); Hadleigh 55 (A Bailey 2–12). Broadstairs won by 71 runs.

The last four appearances by Kent clubs at Lord’s: 2010 Betteshanger (lost in semi-final), 2011 Canterbury (winners), 2012 Whitstable (winners) and 2013 Betteshanger (lost in semi-finals).
