Pitch Panel Rates Pitch ‘ Below Average’

An ECB Pitch Panel comprising David Capel (Pitch Liaison Officer) and Tony Pigott convened this evening (Tuesday 24 June) to consider the pitch used for the LV= County Championship match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence played on 22-24 June between Kent and Derbyshire.

After interviewing the match Umpires, the Captain and Coach of both teams and the Kent Cricket Groundsman, the Pitch Panel decided the pitch was rated as below average and as such there will be no point deduction.

Following the meeting Jamie Clifford, Kent Cricket CEO commented, “I am pleased with the outcome of the Pitch Panel and thank them for their thoroughness. Naturally we are disappointed to have a pitch rated ‘below average’, and will take steps to ensure that future pitch ratings are higher.”
