Sam Billings collects Cricket Society prize

Kent wicketkeeper Sam Billings add yet another prize to his collection this week – with an award from the Cricket Society.

The 23-year-old Kent Cricket Academy graduate picked up the Most Promising Young Cricketer of the Year Trophy from The Cricket Society president John Barclay.

Mr Barclay said: "Prior to the 2014 season, Sam had only played in eight first-class matches and 19 List A matches. He scored 131 on debut for Loughborough University v Northants in 2011.

"Sam performed well in all formats in 2014 after displacing Geraint Jones as Kent's wicket-keeper and had a fabulous season in one-day cricket."

The society has more than 1800 members in the United Kingdom and the cricket-playing countries of the world.
