Kent bowler Sam Weller took a wicket in his opening first-class match as skipper of Oxford MCCU at The Parks.

He clean bowled Worcestershire opener Richard Oliver as the LV= County Championship Division One side reached 155 for two at stumps, an overnight lead of 31.

The visitors won the toss and invited Oxford to bat with the only resistance coming from Lloyd Paternott (40) and Luke Webb (23) as they added 59 for the fourth wicket.

Jack Shantry dismissed both men and mopped up most of the tail to claim 5-18 from 18 overs, including ten maidens.

Shantry's victims included Weller, who made a patient seven from 31 balls before falling to the left-armer, caught by Tom Fell as the university side posted 124 in 64.1 overs.
