Second XI continue unbeaten start to Championship season

Kent’s second XI continued their unbeaten start to the Championship season with a 94-run win against Essex at Maidstone.

A flurry of wickets in the last session of the third and final day secured a well-earned victory.

Paceman Johannes Bothma took 5-51 and spinner Imran Qayyum (pictured above) claimed another four wickets to seal the win.

The win was set up by Sean Dickson’s career-best 178 on day one, batting in tandem with Darren Stevens who scored 68 and 75 in each innings as Kent declared on 400 for seven.

After dismissing Essex for 342 on day two, Kent scored 285 on the final day leaving the visitors a victory target of 343 to chase.
