Spinner John Dale dies aged 86

John Dale, a slow left-arm bowler who played for Kent in 1958, has died aged 86.

Dale, who was born in Cleethorpes, made his Minor Counties debut for Lincolnshire in 1949 and returned to play for them after a 12 year absence in 1970.

His solitary first-class appearance came for Kent against Cambridge University at Fenner's in May 1958 in which he took the wicket of Ted Dexter in the only innings he bowled in a nine-wicket win.

Dale played a full season with of second team cricket with Kent in 1958 and was awarded his Second XI cap.

Away from cricket Dale was a teacher at a grammar school in Lincolnshire.
