Tammy Beaumont top-scores with ODI best as England beat Pakistan

Kent opener Tammy Beaumont top-scored for England as her ODI career-best of 70 inspired England to a seven-wicket win against Pakistan.

In the first of three Royal London One-Day Internationals, new skipper Heather Knight inserted the tourists at the Fischer County Ground in Leicester.

The captain led from the front with 5/26 after Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross made early in-roads with the new ball.

Kent all-rounder Laura Marsh slowed the scoring in the middle overs with a tidy spell of 1/33 in ten overs.

In reply, Yorkshire opener Lauren Winfield departed first ball and Sussex’s Georgia Elwiss fell for 12 before Knight (50*) and Beaumont added 96 for the third wicket.

The Dover-born opener hit eleven boundaries in a fluent 75-ball knock before Asmavia Iqbal claimed her scalp.

Knight and Surrey all-rounder Nat Sciver saw England home with 18.1 overs to spare.
