Three wickets for Claydon, Coles and Stevens as Kent draw at Leicester
Wednesday 27th April 2016
Kent’s attack fought back to claim maximum bowling bonus points as a draw was secured at the Fischer County Ground in Leicester.
It was Mitch Claydon who ended the 217-run stand between century-makers Mark Cosgrove (122) and Neil Dexter (131) by bowling both the Foxes’ skipper Cosgrove and next man Mark Pettini in his following over.
Darren Stevens repeated the maxim of one wicket bringing two as he got the scalps of former Kent team-mates Niall O’Brien (bowled) and Neil Dexter (LBW) in successive overs.
Matt Coles returned to the attack after a counter-attack by Wayne White (42*) and Ben Raine (24) by bowling the latter and Zak Chappell (caught at second slip) before Leicester declared after reaching 400 and attaining maximum batting points.
In the second innings, Sean Dickson (34*) and Sam Northeast (31*) steered Kent to safety after the loss of two early wickets.
Kent pick up ten points: five for the draw plus two batting and three bowling bonus points.
