Under 17 Kent Cricketers Selected for National Squads

Two of Kent’s young players, representing London and East Region squads for the Under 17 Super 4 Competition, have been selected for higher honours. Ryan Davies has been called into the England Under 17 and Hugh Bernard the English Development Programme (EDF) Invitational, Squads.

In choosing Davies the national selectors have noted his consistent form playing for the Kent Cricket Second XI, scouting data and strong performances at the Super 4 tournament. The wicket keeper, batsman will join his fellow English team mates on the 10th August in preparation for two week programme. During this period they will play a One-Day fixture against the South African Under 19s and then three One Dayers and a three day Test against Pakistan Under 17s.

Bernard, a right hand medium, fast bowler, involvement with the EDF Invitational squad will be over a shorter period in August and will include matches against England and Pakistani age group teams. They will play England Under 19 and Pakistan Under 17 in limited over fixtures.

Kent Cricket High Performance Director noted that, ‘this is a great honour for the boys and testament to their skill, hardwork and determination. It is great for the County to be gaining recognition at England level.’
