Men’s First Team

Matt Hunn and Calum Haggett took a wicket apiece but could not prevent a strong Warwickshire from winning comfortably on a good pitch at The County Ground, Beckenham.

The pair gave a combined Kent and Northants XI hope with two quick wickets on the final day of a three-day friendly but despite an attacking declaration, the visitors chased down a target of 322 to win.

After centuries from Northants pair Kyle Coetzer and Steven Crook scored centuries to help Kent/Northants reach 410 for 5 declared before teenage opener Andrew Umeed decided the contest.

The Scotsman hit 17 fours and a six to reach 164 not out and put on 169 for the first wicket with Ateeq Javid (84).

Haggett dismissed Javid, caught Coetzer before Hunn removed Tom Lewis, caught by Kent colleague Alex Blake before the Midlanders secured a six-wicket win.

Next up for Simon Willis' second XI side combined with Hampshire to face Surrey in a four-day friendly at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
