Young cricketers recognised in 2014 High Performance Presentations

Emerging Kent cricket talent was recognised in theHigh Performance Presentations at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Monday.

Young players hoping to follow in the footsteps of first team stars Rob Key and Sam Billings received awards for their batting, bowling and fielding performances this season in more than 160 district matches.

It is a perennial game these days with 260 hours of winter coaching for 234 boys and 125 girls in Kent with 88 boys and 76 girls representing the county.

Coaches include current Kent players Geraint Jones and James Tredwell and former stars Min Patel, Mark Ealham and Vince Wells.

Kent all-rounder Calum Haggett joined Kent Cricket coaches to present the awards to the following youngsters.

U11 Boys

· Batting: Harry Bevan-Thomas – The New Beacon School – Sevenoaks Vine CC – Sevenoaks District

· Bowling: Callum French – Wentworth Primary School – Dartford CC – Gravesham & Dartford District

· Fielding: Harrison Legg – Kent College, Canterbury – Whitstable CC – Canterbury District

U11s were runners up at the Taunton Festival

U12 Boys

· Batting: Joe Gordon – St. Edmunds School, Canterbury – St Lawrence & Highland Court CC – Canterbury District

· Bowling: Ben Mills – St. Edmunds School, Canterbury – Whitstable CC – Canterbury District

· Fielding: George Ealham –Cranleigh School – Cranleigh CC – Canterbury District

Bradley Goldsack –Canterbury Academy – Canterbury CC & District

U12s were runners up at the Taunton Festival

U13 Boys

· Batting: Jordan Cox – Wellesley House School – Old Hartsdonians CC & Thanet District

· Bowling: Tom Davis – Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys – Elham Valley CC – Canterbury District

· Fielding: Isaac Dilkes – Wellesley House School – Whitstable CC – Canterbury District

U13s were runners up at the Taunton Festival

U14 Boys

· Batting: Owen Davies – Eltham College – Old Elthamians CC – Bromley District

· Bowling: Shaun Evans – St John’s RC School – Bexley CC – Medway District

· Fielding: Alex Moen – Tonbridge School – Marden CC – Tunbridge Wells District

U15 Boys

· Batting: Nathan Baxter – Whitgift School – Old Colfeians CC – Greenwich District

· Bowling: Matthew Barker, The King’s School, Canterbury – Tunbridge Wells CC & District

Thomas Jones, Folkestone CC and Shepway

· Fielding: WK Oliver Robinson – Hurstmere School – Sidcup CC & Bexley District

Nathan Baxter, Lewis Bedford and Jan Gray were selected to play in the annual prestigious national event – the Bunbury U15 Festival

U17 Boys

· Batting: Mahi Mahfuzul – Orchards Academy/ Swanley School – Blackheath CC – Greenwich District

· Bowling: Jahed Miah – Bethnal Green Academy – Blackheath CC – Greenwich District

· Fielding: Marcus O'Riordan – Tonbridge School – Tunbridge Wells CC &District

As part of their development Sam Weller, Jack Laraman, Ryan Davies, Michael Waller, Piers Richardson, Rob Sehmi, Hugh Bernard, Zak Crawley and Marcus O’Riordan all gained experience in Kent 2ndXI games.

As part of the England Development programme – Ryan Davies, Hugh Bernard, Piers Richardson and Ranjit Singh were all selected to play in the national Super 4s competition – a tournament involving the best U17 players in the country

Ryan and Hugh also played in England U17 Development teams.

Thegirls’ county teamshave been sponsored by St Lawrence College, Ramsgate – and their awards were presented by Simon Heard – the school’s Deputy Head & Registrar

U11s Girls

· Batting: Grace Scrivens – Roseacre Junior School – Leeds & Bromfield CC – Maidstone District [Izzey Shelley]

· Bowling: Ka-leer Moore – Christ Church CoE Primary School – Greenwich Junior Academy – Greenwish District

· Fielding: Ryana MacDonal-Gay – Offham Primary School – Addington Village CC – Tonbridge & Malling District

U13s Girls

· Batting: Georgina Hill – Bethany School – Maidstone District

· Bowling: Jess Golden – Langley Park School for Girls – Bromley District

· Fielding: Maddie Salama – Chislehurst and SidcupGrammar School – Bromley District

U13 Girls represented the South East region in the Performance league national finals – and were runners up – placing them 2ndin the country

U13 Emerging Spitfires

· Bowling: Georgia Tyler – The Harris Academy Falconwood – Sidcup CC & Bexley District

· Fielding: Alice Thompson – Barton Court Grammar School – Whitstable CC – Canterbury District

U15s Girls

· Batting & Bowling: Elodie Harbourne – Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls – Bells Yew Green CC – Tunbridge Wells District

· Fielding: Molly Davis – St Lawrence & HC CC – Canterbury District

U17 Girls

· Batting: Emily Thompson – Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School – Bexley CC & District

· Bowling: Elodie Harbourne – Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls – Bells Yew Green CC –Tunbridge Wells District

· Fielding: Phoebe Franklin – St. Catherines RC School For Girls – Old Colfeians CC – Greenwich District

Phoebe played in the adult Kent’s women’s team that won the Royal London One-Day Cup and is on the England U15 Development programme. Megan Belt was another young cricketer who played in the winning adult team.
