Player Biography

A wicket keeper/batsman during his playing career, Simon enjoyed a seven year spell with the Club as a player.

He holds the ECB Level 4 Coaching Qualification and ECB Executive Management and Coaching Skills Course as well as working as a batting and wicket-keeping specialist on the ECB Level 4 and Level 3 Coach Education courses.

Simon set-up and launched the inaugural Kent Cricket Academy in 2003, which has already produced the likes of Joe Denly, Sam Northeast, Alex Blake and Matt Coles.

He is one of the leading coaches in the country and was elevated to working with the first team in 2004, when the side finished second in division one of the County Championship. During the period of 2004 to 2009, when Simon worked with the first team, success on the field resulted in winning the domestic t20 competition in 2007 and reaching two domestic one day finals in 2008. The county also won the second division of the LV= County Championship in 2009.

At the end of the 2009 season Simon moved into the role of High Performance Director, overseeing the identification and development of future young players throughout the Kent system. This includes second eleven cricket, Academy and the Kent Young Cricketers programme.

Away from cricket, Simon is a big Arsenal fan and enjoys watching all sports.
