    Player Biography

Kent’s Player of the Year once again showed his quality and versatility in what proved to be a vintage season for him. The experienced all-rounder enjoyed a year to remember and signed a new two-year deal at the end of the 2011 season. Since joining the club in 2007, the Pakistani has proved his worth in all forms of the games. In one-day and t20 cricket he is a crucial cog in a strong Spitfires attack, specialising in bowling at the death while also decimating opposing attacks with his fearsome hitting. A promotion to number three in t20 cricket last season helped to fully ignite Azhar’s undoubted qualities. He scored 485 runs at an average of 40.41, including his maiden t20 ton, off just 57 balls, against Gloucestershire at Beckenham. His skills are not just limited to the shorter forms of the game as he has taken over 600 first class wickets, and is closing in on 8,000 first class runs making him one of the most prolific all-rounder’s on the county circuit.

Azhar has experience at all levels having played 21 test matches and 143 ODI’s for Pakistan. His continued presence around the club will help guide the Kent youngsters through their early careers.
