Kent Cricket Academy graduate Sam Weller made the step up to the first team squad in 2015.
The fast bowler from Sidcup played two first-class matches for Oxford MCCU and will join wicketkeeper-batsman Ryan Davies in making the step up.
The Oxford Brookes University student took five wickets in the matches against Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire in July 2014 including the prized scalp of ex-England batsman Jonathan Trott.
He took nine wickets in five red-ball matches for Kent’s second XI in 2014 including a five-wicket haul at Taunton.
In 2015, he was appointed Oxford MCCU captain and taking 3/26 in 22 overs v Middlesex in a first-class game, dismissing Nick Gubbins, Paul Stirling and Tim Murtagh.
Weller grabbed another the scalps of Surrey openers Rory Burns and Zafar Ansari plus skipper Gareth Batty a week later.
He had a spell at Somerset’s academy while he attended Millfield School before returning to his native county.
He will join fellow Old Millfieldians Daniel Bell-Drummond, Callum Haggett and Charlie Hartley on Kent’s playing staff.
